This is my car: a 1999
BMW 740i Sport. The
"sport" indicates that it has forged aluminum 18" (M
parallel spoke) wheels and high-performance Z-rated tires (155
mph), high stall speed performance torque converter, 3.15 final drive
ratio, thicker sway bar, "M-technic" sport suspension
(lowered 20mm), steptronic
transmission, contour sport seats, shadowline exterior trim, and
vavona redwood interior trim. The
color is a unique shade of blue called "Biarritz Blue",
apparently after the
city in southern France.
I started hanging out in the
"E38" (the designation for this model) forum
at roadfly.org shortly before I
got the car, and now have several upgrade projects that I want to do
when I find the time and the money. The easiest is replacing the amber
corner lights with clears (like
the 2001 model). I also want to add "angel
eye" halos around the headlights like the newer 5-series
models. In June, a bunch of us from the forum in the Santa Barbara area (and some from
farther away) got together, and a fun time
was had by all. |
